This post is all about how to do a life audit
What is A Life Audit?
A life audit is a lifestyle assessment that focuses on intentional reflection to progress towards your dream life.
A life audit works by assessing your current life and identifying areas that are the least satisfying to work on and improve.
How To Do A Simple Life Audit?
Step 1: Reflection
To think about how you want 2025 to look like you must take time to reflect on how your life was in 2024.
Think about how satisfied you felt with these areas over the past year.
- Career
- Finances
- Relationships
Now, write down why you have it that score.
What do you like most in this area?
What do you wish you could do differently to improve this area?
Step 2: Define your level 10 vision for your life
This means looking at what success looks like for you in all the areas of your life.
Most people are afraid to claim their level-ten vision because they are afraid that they are not worthy of that version of life.
Are you ready for the level 10 version of your life?
Ask yourself these four questions to visualize your level 10 life without limit.
- What does my perfect day look like?
- Where do I live?
- What do I value most?
Step 3: Create A Vision Board for your goals
Your level 10 life is more achievable when you have a visual reminder of what you want to achieve and changes you want for your life.- this is where a vision board comes in.
A vision board is a powerful tool for manifesting the life you want because you can add pictures and quotes that inspires and condition your mind that anything is possible.
Once you’re done creating your vision board you can hang it somewhere you’ll see it as you wake up in the morning
Step 4: Track your progress for your vision board
Life can get super busy and it’s easy for us to forget the goals we are working on.
Tracking your progress for your vision board is extremely important because it transforms your dreams by helping you measure the areas which you’ve which means you’re one step closer to achieving your goals on your vision board.
You also stay motivated by reminding yourself what truly matters and celebrating your small wins.
Tips for tracking your vision board.
- Keep a journal and write down updates about your goals at the end of each week
- Place a checkmark over goals that you have achieved
- Celebrate your wins by rewarding yourself with a small gift
Step 5: Revisit your life audit regularly
Your goals and dreams grow with you as you progress in life. Remember to revisit your life audit every 3-6 months to assess what’s changed, where you’ve seen your life improve the most, and how your level 10 life is progressing.
What Is The Wheel Of Life?
The wheel of life is a visual tool with different dimensions used to do a life audit to balance different areas of your life.
Understanding The Wheel Of Life
The wheel of life will show you a clear perspective on where you are, what’s working, and what areas in your life may need more attention.
The wheel of life has a total of 8 dimensions to teach you how to do a life audit.
The wheel is divided into sections and each section shows areas:
- Career
- Finances
- Personal growth
- Health
- Family
- Relationships
- Physical Appearance
- Environment

To do your assessment you first need to rate each area on a scale of 0-10.
0 being not satisfied and 10 very satisfied.
The purpose of learning how to do a life audit using the wheel of life is to be honest with yourself about the things that are working and what are not- for each area of the wheel think about why did not give it a 10/10 score.
This will help you to create an actionable plan for improving these areas during the rest of the exercise.
How To Do A Life Audit Using The Wheel of Life
- Identify Your Priorities
Now that you have identified the areas of your life you’re thriving in and the areas you need to improve, it’s time for you to identify your priorities.
This will help you determine which areas of your life deserve more or less focus right now.
To identify your priorities you need to reflect on your current life and write down everything you like and dislike.
To identify your priorities ask yourself these three questions:
- Which area of my life will level me up the most if I start working on it today?
- What would make me feel whole, fulfilled, or complete here?
- What does my dream life look like?
After reflecting on these questions, rank the top three areas on your wheel of life in order of your priorities and focus on those three areas for now.
You can go back to the other areas in 3-6 months from now and work on those areas.
- Fill In The gaps
Now that you are clear on your priorities it’s time for you to identify and fill in the gaps by identifying what it will take for you to feel most fulfilled in the areas where you did not give yourself 10/10.
For example:
When I completed my life audit three months ago I rated my finances 4/10 because I truly was not making half the money that I desire. So this was my reason for giving this area such a low grade which is also one of my top three areas to work on.
After asking myself the three questions I mentioned earlier it was pretty easy for me to identify my gaps. If you too struggle with this area of your life the intentional goals you need to ask yourself is:
- How can I increase my monthly income to Y
- I want to make X amount of money to stop living paycheck to paycheck
Identifying your gaps will help you to refocus on what truly matters by confronting challenges and making intentional changes to create your dream life.
The step is not an actual plan but after doing this exercise you should visualize how your life could be better and what kind of goals you need to set.
- Create Your Level 10 Vision
Another important step in learning to audit your life using the wheel of life is creating a level 10 vision.
Now that you have written down the gaps in your life and determined how you want to improve them you need to start thinking boldly, believing that you are greater than your limiting beliefs and you can achieve anything you put your mind to.
This step is not about daydreaming about what your life could be but it’s about guiding your actions, thoughts, and mindset to stay motivated as you work towards your goals.
This is where your vision board for your life comes into play.
4. Set Intentional Goals
The easiest way to reach milestones on your vision board is to set intentional goals.
Start by visualizing what your career, relationships, finances, and other areas of your life will look like in the next five years.
What does success and happiness look like for you?
Once you answer this question it is time for you to make SMART goals.
To make smart goals each goal has to be:
- Specific: What do you truly desire for your life?
- Measurable: How will I track my goals?
- Achievable: How will I attain the goals I set for myself? Are they realistic?
- Relevant: How do these goals align with my values and long term vision?
- Time-bound: What is the deadline for working on each goal?
- Define And Track Your Habits
To change your life you need to implement healthy habits that support your goals.
You can start with small habits that get you closer to your goal over time.
For instance, if your goal is to make an additional $1000 per month, you can easily define new habits to support this goal by creating a clear roadmap:
- Invest one hour in learning a new skill or figuring out what you’re good at.
- Listen to podcasts, take a course, or watch YouTube videos that will help you finetune your skills.
- Determine who is your audience and why they need your service
- Reach out to one person a day to pitch your services or product.
- Review your finances weekly to ensure you’ve hit your $1000 goal.
Once you have defined your habits it’s now time for you to stay consistent by tracking your habits.
This is a step you cannot miss here you will get to see if you’re moving in the right direction.
Monitoring your habits will also help you to identify what worked and what needs to be adjusted for you to succeed.
A simple tracking system you can implement using a habit tracker to mark the habits you complete daily. If you are consistent you can add a checkmark (✔️) or add the words NO or Yes which is an easy way to measure your success over time.
- Review Your Life Audit Regularly
Congratulations you have successfully learned how to do a life audit using the wheel of life.
You have successfully defined your goals, implemented healthy habits into your routine, and made sure you’re progressing toward your dream life.
You’ve made it!
But, have you?
Nothing is ever perfect in life which is why you need to review your life audit regularly.
You don’t have to check in every week but ensure that you check in every four months to review what’s working and what’s not.
Remember, a life audit is all about taking control of your life. You cannot love your dream life without a clear vision and intentional goals.
